Fake It Till Ya Make It

That's actually a very powerful tool - faking it till ya make it.  When you act confident, next thing you know you are feeling more confident and no longer have to fake it.

I am faking it today.  I have a lot going on including a job interview!  I'll let you know how it goes later.

Got a call from Anthony last night at midnight.  He had court yesterday and was looking at 5 years in prison for violating parole:  missing appointments, possession of heroin and paraphernalia, possession of an RX that was not his.  BUT, in reviewing  his huge file they noticed that he had never been offered any type of court mandated drug program.  The judge gave him One Last Chance and put him on Prop 36.  So if he messes this up he's looking at a loooooooooooooooong time behind bars.

I won't even get into my thoughts on drug offenders getting five years when rapists sometimes get less...I'll save that for my post on Luke Whyte and Voices of Justice.  That post will be coming up soon.

I told Ant that the only way I can be in his life is if it does not involve Kels or Kev.  I will not help him, give him money, give him rides, give him jack crap.  I will only give him honesty and a listening ear.  I will not even give  him encouragement or advice.  I've done all that, it obviously didn't do much.  I wanted to walk away from him, but I'll be there for the next few months until he lands himself back in prison.  And, if by some miracle that doesn't happen, it will be nice to see him succeed.

I didn't talk to Keven yesterday but am hoping he's doing better.

To all my fellow Irish friends (and those who love an excuse to party)

Question:  What nationality are you?
I'm French Canadian / Irish.

Peace, Hope and Love, Barbara

Whenever I asked my mother what nationality we are, her response was always, "We are just American, baby." I later learned we are English, Irish, French, German...that we know of.

BMelon, I like what your mom said :) But its fun to know where our heritage started. You're a very European mix.

HBS, Wow, how cool you know your clan and everything! My sister has been all over Europe and Scotland is her favorite with Ireland a close second.

Best of luck on the job interview!! Glad to hear that Ant is being given this opportunity especially if he's never had any benifit of any kind of treatment...I'm assuming that prop 36 will allow him some treatment, yes? As for nationality...I'm 1/4 Italian from my beloved grandfather, next comes the Irish from my sainted grandmother, some English, a little bit Welsh and Dutch, with a little American Indian thrown in the mix for fun!! Guess I'm really a mut...oh, I forgot I think the new term is "designer breed"..Ha Ha!!

I am looking forward to hearing how the job interview goes! I will be praying. Prop 36 is a good program if the person works it. My only complaint is that most drug addicts that have gotten into enough trouble to be offered Prop 36 need LOOONNNGGGG term help. Someone in my life was a huge prop 36 sucess story. We all were so hopeful including him.He felt like he was on his way to a "normal" life. Practically the same week he graduated and he knew that there would be no more drug testing, no more parole checks at the house...it all went down hill. Fast. It is really so sad because as much as some of our addicts want sobriety and to create a traditional life of home, work and family....they simply don't know how to pull it all together. I am praying for Anthony too.

Kristi, I like that term "designer breed" and you sure have a variety! How cool to be part Native American!!

Annette, I agree with you on Prop 36. Its sad to say this, but I have little to no hope for Anthony even getting through it.

Momma, you are a designer breed too :)

Lori, was your husband born in Canada? Which province? My dad was from Nova Scotia.

Syd, Its been easier to have boundaries with him because I am so disappointed in him. Maybe that's not the best way to develop them but it works.

Anna, thank you for saying that :)
