Hurting Parents

There are so many hurting parents of addicts.
We are all different, but the same.
I've seen healing, recovery and miracles - it can happen for our children too.

We are all in different phases of watching this disease play itself out and end in recovery. I'd like you to forgive me for not jumping on the 'good sign' bandwagon. The gift your son gave you was a peek into the depth of his illness - and a sign that he wants to stay one step ahead of the law. A great reason to get drugs out of your home and keep them out of your home is for your own mental health and personal well-being. It's so difficult to live at the edge of your seat looking for signs of rational thinking. The pictures reveal that your son is very ill. A good sign will be the day he begins saying that he desperately needs help, he can't live like this anymore and he's willing to make whatever changes necessary to go on. Now, that's a good sign! Keep the faith.

Madsion, thank you. You describe it so well "live at the edge of your seat looking for signs of rational thinking". Keven is saying all the right things, but they are easier to say while behind bars. I hope he really is desperate, not just wanting freedom.
