Latest News on The Boys:

Keven is doing good, the judge not only granted him back his license but wrote in the Minute Order that in her opinion they (the other judge/DA) were "in error" by taking it away in the first place or the charge (vandalism).  So, as soon as I have time to get him to the DMV he will be driving again.  I work my "temp job" tomorrow.

Wish I had good news on Ant.  He got kicked out of rehab.  Don't know what to say so I won't say anything except:  I fear for his life and am sad at his choices, but at least it was "only" weed (looking at the bright side).

As for me, I learn the hard way every time I have a life lesson.  Every time.  With men, with parenting, with everything.

Only weed is how a lot of people begin their road to using drugs. Most don't stop at only weed.

I'm sorry about Ant. I hope that he does get clean, on his terms if that's necessary.

So sorry about Ant, but glad to hear that Keven is doing well. Hugs.

Learning the hard way is a whole lot better than not learning at all.

It's unfortunate that the treatment program chose to discharge him for use of THC.

It would have been more productive to keep him engaged in treatment and address the issue in counseling.

The "treatment provider" made no attempt to address his use via actual treatment...they took the lazy and irresponsible approach and kicked him out.

They could have done their jobs and helped him learn new ways to address his addiction (recognize what lead to his THC relapse, practice ways to combat cravings and stressors, and learn to effectively respond to and limit a relapse etc.).

Instead they kicked him out increasing his risk for opiate relapse, drug overdose, incarceration and violence.

Now the bankrupt state of CA will have another inmate to incarcerate to the tune of $50,000/year only to postpone the time that he will be back in the community still addicted and still without an effective recovery plan.

They didn't do the best thing for him or the community. They just did what was easiest for the program.

It reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw: If you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention.

The things is, we are so used to this type of behavior by treatment providers, that it seems normal and okay. It's not. It is unethical, immoral and destructive.

Tom, I hear you loud and clear. Did you happen to see the video Dad on Fire has on his blog today? It kind of says it all about CA and the drug laws. I asked Keven's opinion why he thought they kicked him out and he says that where he was people got kicked out if they were a risk to others. I think that is more legit reason. I wish they could have given him extra hours rather than kick him out...
