Change of "Venue"

Kev called this afternoon to let me know they moved him to Theo Lacy's facility.  So now, he's in the same jail as Anthony!  But, they won't see each other at all.  Keven was moved due to his finger, apparently they finally realized that its more than just a bandaged up finger - it has pins sticking out of it!!!  So he'll get the attention he needs (I hope).

Also, this is a huge bonus for me, visiting there is SO NICE compared to OCJ.

Hoping each of you has an enjoyable, drama-free weekend!

Peace, Hope and Love, Barbara

P.S.  Isn't "venue" a cute term for jail?  :)

My daughter experienced two changes of venue this week. She was transferred from a locked rehab facility on Tuesday and then transferred to jail yesterday. She is almost 6 months pregnant and the staff wanted to move her to a facility that houses pregnant women and would have a place where she could bring the baby after she delivered.

She raged and then refused to talk to her probation officer. So, her probation was revoked. She has a stay of execution for a 4th degree felony. This is the fourth time she is appearing before the same judge. I wonder if he will revoke the stay? It would seem a shame for her to go to prison because she was acting like an...

Barbara,

So happy to see that you still have your joy, in spite of the challenges of seeing your son suffer. You are all in our prayers.

Just surfing a bit tonight ... need to stop thinking. My dad passed away this past Sunday and his memorial service is tomorrow.

Love to you,
Cheri

That's good, that he has been moved to a better venue !!

A question, Barbara ... in an earlier post you were talking about prisons and jails, it sounded like they were different types of places ... over here, they are both one and the same, just depends who's talking about them, as far as I'm aware !! What's the difference ?? (Sorry, just curious !! Thanks !!)

Hi Connie!!!

I'll do my best to explain:

Jail's are run by the county. You go to jail when you are arrested and await your sentencing. Depending on the crime and the length of the sentence you may remain in jail for your full term. But often if you have a longer term (10 month or more) you are sent to a State Prison.

In jail, you can visit every week, but no full contact visits, everything is through a window on a phone. The inmates spend most of the time in doors, occasionally they get to go to the roof of the building to get some fresh air and sunlight. They have very few privilages.

Prison visiting you get to spend the whole day with the person. Of course there are strict rules to a visit - you have to be searched and wear appropriate clothing, etc.
I think prison gives you a bit more freedom and the prisons I've seen have "yards" where they can exercise or whatever.

Someone else here may be able to explain it better.
