Orientation...
I feel kind of blah and sick right now...is it the swine flu? am I tired? do I feel hopeless and helpless after attending the orientation meeting for PH? It seems like a great program...but is he ready? Will this be it? Or like so many others are we just at the beginning of this journey?

Good luck to both of you. I have heard that the Phoenix House program is good.
My son has been in OC Phoenix House (adolescent side) for 4 and a half months. It took awhile for him to "get it" even though he wanted to be there instead of juvi, but he's finally making some serious progress. Ironically, my personal and professional history is in mental health and substance abuse prevention, but I think that PH is on the cutting edge of treatment programs. They are comprehensive and evidence-based. None the less, I share all your same concerns, as a mother's emotions tend to out weigh a lifetime of education and experience! Your son will do well there.

Tracy, I appreciate you sharing this, not only the positive info on Ph. House but the understanding of what if feels like to be a mom of an addict. Its crazy. I hope your son continues to do really well, it sounds like he will!!
